They say The Green Men can turn you back for not dressing appropriately. They say the word “appropriately” can be interpreted in different ways. Probably you should just dress like the people in this photo, just to be safe. Although the Green Man does seem to turning away that lady in the reddish hat. Wonder what she did.
In 1898 Britain's first moving staircase was installed at Harrods.
It was such a scary concept—stairs that move!—that management decided they'd better station attendants at the top of the escalator with smelling salts and brandy to calm down all those nervous customers.

In August 1921, Mrs. Daphne Milne came to Harrods to buy a first birthday present for her son Christopher Robin. She chose a teddy bear. Her husband (author A. A. Milne) then created some really marvelous stories about the Harrods bear. Have you guessed where this is going? Five years later Harrods was advertising a "delightful book" called Winnie-the-Pooh.
