Lamorna to Porthcurno

10/14/2023

Picture
It rained too hard on Friday so we postpone this walk to Saturday and the weather is fantastic! This section of the SWCP winds up and around boulders, through boggy patches, across narrow paths where you have to hold your arms in to avoid the bramble hedges, across streams and stone bridges, and over a rock beach. The word we used most often to describe the hike and the day was "glorious".

The Logan Rock pub

We head a half mile off the SWCP to stop again at the Logan Rock pub in Treen to get a pub meal and tea. To get there, you cross three market garden fields. Yesterday it was one big mud pile, today it was mostly dry.

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum

We arrive just 30 minutes before closing so have to rush through the museum. Porthcurno, or ‘PK’ as it is known in telegraphic code, is the site of the first undersea telegraph cable in 1870. Read more here.
